Le’Evelyn Hammett is a dedicated African American historian with extensive expertise in historical research, curriculum development, and oral history documentation. She holds a Master’s degree in African American Studies from Morgan State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in African American Studies from the University of South Carolina. Le’Evelyn has contributed to various projects, including Frederick County Preservation and Planning Department, the Library of Congress, and the United States Forest Service's African American Oral History Project. Her research focuses on African American women's history and intersectionality within the Civil Rights Movement.

In addition to her academic work, Le’Evelyn has developed and curated culturally relevant curricula for educators and high school students, integrating primary sources from archives and digital media. Her publication, "Sacred and Secular: African American Women's Expressions Through Folk Music, 1933-1950", underscores her commitment to documenting the contributions of African American women.

With experience in teaching, record management, and preservation, Le’Evelyn combines her passion for history with a dedication to education and community engagement.
